Health Professor, Inc., to Provide
HIPAA e-Learning Solutions to Physician Assistants
Alexandria, VA, April 2003 - The American Academy
of Physician Assistants (AAPA), the only national organization
for physician assistants in all medical and surgical
specialties, and Health Professor, Inc., a leading
provider of e-learning systems for the healthcare industry,
today announced an agreement that offers e-learning
courses for training to comply with the new HIPAA privacy
regulations.
Physician assistants (PAs)
will be able to access the on-line courses through
Health Professor’s
Internet-based system known as HIPAAprof. Organizations
of any size, as well as individual physician assistants,
can easily access, track, and complete their HIPAA
training requirements at any time or location. This
is a critical factor for PAs, who have complicated
and demanding work schedules.
“This partnership with Health Professor provides
a much-needed benefit for physician assistants,” says
Stephen C. Crane, Ph.D., M.P.H., executive vice president
and CEO of AAPA. “The deadline for HIPAA training
is fast approaching, and this solution is easy to implement
and of high quality.”
“We are honored to be in partnership with an
organization like AAPA,” said Clifton R. Gaus,
CEO of Health Professor, “and we are excited
to make this cost-effective training for HIPAA available
to such an important group of professionals.”
Physician assistants are
licensed health professionals who deliver a broad
range of medical and surgical services
as members of a team with their supervising physicians.
Founded in 1968, AAPA works to promote quality, cost-effective
health care, and the professional and personal growth
of PAs. For more information about the Academy and
the PA profession, visit the AAPA’s Web site,
